Importing a spreadsheet into a job in TBS

There are many situations when you are sent a list of items to quote on which may not already exist within your current TBS descriptions - fortunately there is an easy way to drop these into a job within TBS

First create a spreadsheet like this one (note you can include columns for folder name, and sales account code too if you like) :

Note : you don't need to include the first row with the column titles but I find it easier to manage.....

Save your spreadsheet as a Tab Delimited text style (name it as you wish) :

Then create your new job and go to the Bookings Items tab :

From the Special Menu of the Bookings items, select the option 'Add Non-stock Items From text File' :

This gives you an options screen for how you wish to import your file :

Note : in my example, I left the titles line at the top, so I would want to tick the top option : Is row 1 a column title line ? :

Then click on Ok to select your actual file :

After selecting your file, TBS will read that in and show you a list of the first few rows of what it found - more so you can cancel if it doesn't look right ! :

If everything looks ok, then simply click on Ok and the entries will be created within your job :

Manipulate as normal from there and Save when ready......

Final note : there is also a way to automatically create new stock descriptions directly from your text line entries - but that's for another time !
