Printing Barcodes

There are many places in and around TBS from where you may wish to print out your own barcodes

Here are some ground rules for printing generic barcode labels from TBS - remember - as with ALL reports in TBS - any format can be customised for your own layout and specification, you just need to put in a request to our support staff to have your layout updated for you.

Currently there are standard 'barcode' print options available at the following locations within TBS :

For a physical stock item:

For a selection list title - note - a selection list title includes a special feature where only text up to any included '|' (pipe) symbol is used for the barcode:

For a selection list item - note - this will print a standard barcode for any stock item, or use the Non-stock Serial Number for anything else:

For a stock location (like shelves in your warehouse etc) - note - there are 2 sizes of label available here:

It is also not uncommon to include barcodes to represent job numbers on Load Sheets and Delivery/Return Sheets as well

To print any barcode, you need to have a barcode font installed on your computer first.

To use the standard TBS barcode formats, if you meet the free license qualifications of IDAutomation, you can download and install the free Code39 barcode font.

Installation Instructions

Once you have the correct barcode font downloaded and installed on your computer, restart TBS and you can try printing any of the above Reports menu options to the screen to check the font is working ok :

Provided this looks correct when printing to the screen, try printing a barcode report to your printer

If printing to a barcode label printer (like a Brother P-Touch) you may need to amend the default Printer settings to ensure it prints in Landscape and with appropriate margins etc

Once your printer is printing the labels how you want them, you can automate printing to a specific label printer by going to the Administration / Local Computer Preferences section of TBS :

Here use the 'Set Printer' button to select your local or networked barcode label printer, and then Save this information - once set then when a barcode report is requested to be printed, TBS will - behind the scenes - switch the current printer to your chosen label printer in order to print the barcode label, and then return your current printer to its former setting.
