Frequently Asked Question
Setting Up Web Site Stock
Almost all companies want to incorporate their stock descriptions into their web sites. You can do this directly from TBS if you wish, as there is an interface already built just for this purpose !
Before we look at the web site side of life, first you need to distinguish which stock types, and which descriptions of those types you want to display on your client facing web site - typically there will always be certain types or descriptions which, for one reason or another, you want to keep private.
So firstly, go to Stock --> Lookups --> Stock Types Web Site Inclusion :
Here you can add the stock types which you wish to be seen in the web site - thankfully there is an easy way to do this quickly, from the Special menu choose the option : Add Multiple Stock Types
This opens a list of all stock types not yet in your viewable list :
Select which types you wish to be added to your list and click Ok when ready - now you have your selected list of stock types for the web site :
Next we want to add specific stock descriptions from these stock types, so choose the navigation option underneath this, called Stock Descriptions Web Site Inclusion (note : the stock type must be in the stock types list for a description to be allowed to be added here)
As with the stock types, we can use the Special menu option : Add Multiple Stock Descriptions here to add bulk entries :
First, we select a specific, or multiple stock types :
Once you have chosen your stock type(s) then the matching descriptions are shown to you (note : only descriptions not already in your list will be shown here) :
After selecting your descriptions, press Ok and you are returned to the list :
Once you have set up a list of viewable stock descriptions here, then if you go to the client portal in your TBS browser - so where you would go to (say) http://mycompany/tbs/staff/ try going to http://mycompany/tbs/clients/ - you should see the results of your selections :
You can 'dress' descriptions directly within TBS - so if you go to a stock description window and search for a description :
Switch to the Images tab :
Click on the New button of the Images list (the bottom list) and if you want to import an image saved on your local drive, click on the import button (the ying/yang button) to select from your computer - this will import the image in to TBS - and you can add an english title for the image :
Back in the browser, if you search for that description, you will see in the results, you now have an image :
You can add attachments (such as manuals etc) in the TBS Attachments tab, or additional notes in the Notes tab, so if a user wishes to see more information about any item, they can get it, directly from your TBS data :
The images shown here are just the plain vanilla default output from TBS. With styling - these can be portrayed to suit your own web site anyway you wish. They are simply here to display the possibility of how it can work.
