Frequently Asked Question
Setting Up Specific Prices For Specific Clients and/or Bookings
If you need to set up a specific price on a given stock description for a specific client (or range of clients), then you will need to create a 'Stock Pricing Type' in order to achieve this.
Stock Pricing Types can be created manually by going to the Stock Screens -> Lookups and selecting Pricing Types, or they can be created on the fly when adding a new Stock Price by way of the Pricing Type lookup field, and simply typing in the required Pricing Type description and leaving the field, where you will be prompted to setup a new pricing type if it does not exist......
A stock pricing type is only a mechanism for allowing a client to be tied to a specific price type rate set for specific stock descriptions so that when such a stock description is added to a booking, then that client will receive the specific price type rate for that description. From this you will also see that the other requirement (in addition to setting a stock description rate set to a specific pricing type) is to set a specific clients name/address record to use a given pricing type.
For any stock description being added to a booking which does NOT have a specific pricing type entry then the default calculation is used to select a rate, so it is only where there exists a specific pricing type rate that anything is different from normal.
Note : there is also a Refs entry in the Bookings lookups entitled 'Discount From Gross For Client Rate' which defaults to 'off' - which - when set to 'on' - allows TBS to display a specific pricing type rate as a discounted rate from the default price instead of a specific rate with no discount - i.e. if a default rate is 100.00 and a pricing type rate is 80.00 then if the 'Discount From Gross For Client Rate' is set on, the entry is shown as a rate of 100.00 but with a 20% discount, as opposed to normally where this would be shown as a rate of 80.00 with no discount.
Bookings themselves can be given a specific job type setting - and the job types can be linked to these same Stock Pricing Types. When entering a Booking Type (in Bookings Screens -> Lookups) you have the option of setting a Stock Pricing Type :
When a booking is set to a specific Booking Type, TBS will then automatically select any specific Pricing Type rate for any stock descriptions added to that booking in the same manner as for client specific rates.
A booking is set to a specific Booking Type in the Job Details edit screen :
Note : if you change a bookings Booking Type to a type which has a specific Pricing Type set, then you will be asked by TBS :
which will do as it suggests and verify that any existing entries on that booking are set to the correct rate for each stock description entry of that booking.
